Issue 55 — Japanese Breakfast, Frozen G+T's, Plus the Hottest New Patio on Sunset 🔥
In a rush this morning, please excuse the typos!
In the last issue, I was leaning into the heat. I’m over it now. We’ve hit the dog days of summer…
I trolled Sunset all day Saturday. Started at Bucatini’s Summer Market, stopped by Prado + Fluffy’s, then ended up at an amazing new patio in Echo Park by sundown. We were all immediately obsessed.
Should we tell everyone about this new spot, or no one? I was told to put it behind the paywall so I did — It’s at the very bottom — although I’m sure it will hit Eater or The Angel by next week…
Let’s get into it.
Bites
Prime St. Pizza will be taking over the shuttered Arby’s on Hollywood Blvd from August through Halloween with a new drive-thru concept . (Don’t worry, they aren’t touching the sign) 🤠
Gaby (Perfect City) asked me what restaurant I’d suggest to someone who had one night In LA. See what I said (along with 6 others) here.
Wonderwerk’s Big Orange is now at Whole Foods for $25 bucks — it’s the perfect liter to bring to the pool party.
Sorry Nonna, Gochujang Arrabbiata is just better.

Rumors have been circulating that Frog Club may be on the verge of closing after just five months in business. — Grub Street
‘The whole exclusivity thing backfired, because they couldn’t fill the room…’
Now available on Resy.
A couple other closures:
Otoño in Highland Park’s closed — Bummer, I actually really liked this spot! The Churros de Patatas Bravas were really special...
Bloom + Plume Coffee also closed. ‘In order for the business to be profitable we would have to make compromises we are uncomfortable with, to uphold our integrity we have decided to close.’
Here, have a beer. No foam.
I love these videos Mission Chinese has been doing, they’re so soothing — plus this shiso fried rice looks amazing.
Speaking of NY, Four Horseman is opening another restaurant in Williamsburg.
DTF finally made their Manhattan debut.

Azay — I’ve taken a few friends here now for a birthday brunch — a little tradition of mine. This time it was
’s turn. Getting the full Japanese breakfast is classic, but I felt like switching it up and ordered the Salmon Donburi special instead which was amazing. Iced Sencha all around the table. (Make a reservation so you don’t have to sit on the sidewalk in the sun like we did.)Ggiata: What a sweet addition to York — Highland Park hotties really came out of nowhere for this opening. People are obsessing over the chicken caesar wrap, and I hear the chicken parm is a classic. But I’m a fish bish — so I got the tuna sandwich which ended up being 2 meals in one — delicious. For dessert, Limoncello olive oil cake with almond frosting and candied pistachios. YUM.
Woon Express: I love a woon pop-up. Always high vibes + a great crowd. The Walnut Shrimp Roll was a really fun original idea — just wanted 3x the amount of sauce! Crab Rangoons where you could actually taste the crab meat? Groundbreaking. Obsessed.
Queen St’s ‘Low Tide’: Finally made it to happy hour! Their low tide deals happen everyday 4-5:30, + all night Monday :) Liv and I shared both slider options — the pimento cheese + fried oyster slider (← fave). They also do $10 pours. A perfect little happy hour date if you ask me!
La Grocery + Cafe: Y’all went crazy for this lunch on my IG story! What a great new boutique grocer. It’s like Cookbook meets Erewhon at Melrose Hill. I got a combo plate from the cold case — soba noods (very garlicy fyi) trout salad, and cucumbers. Around $14.
Love the informative signage.
La Burg — This ‘grilled cheese’ reminded me of my vegetarian In-N-Out order. Like a burger without the burger. Inside out buns were an amazing touch. Perf.
Here it is guys. The new spot I put behind a paywall for some reason. (Clearly a ton of people already know about it, the place was packed.)
